Facility & Equipment Details

Description

The SCAN (Social, Cognitive, and Affective Neuroscience) Center is an NSF-funded, Provostial research facility dedicated to advancing the study of human brain structure and function. The center houses a state-of-the-art Siemens PRISMA 3 Tesla MRI scanner, along with MR-compatible eye-tracking, noninvasive brain stimulation, and physiological monitoring systems. Located in a dedicated building near the Life Sciences Building, the SCAN Center supports interdisciplinary research spanning social, cognitive, and affective neuroscience. Researchers from West Campus, the Medical School, the School of Engineering, and Brookhaven National Laboratory use the facility to pursue fundamental questions in neuroimaging, as well as research and development of advanced experimental methods. The center also supports teaching, training, and both funded and unfunded research projects, and is available to off-campus investigators.
