Research interests

I'm deeply passionate about the intricate world of shark and ray research. As a faculty member, my main interests revolve around training students and providing mentorship, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the field.

My background extends beyond academia; I'm deeply invested in environmental education, particularly in informal settings. Whether it is engaging with K-12 students, scout groups, or early childhood programs, my goal is to instill a love for marine ecosystems and foster a sense of stewardship among the public.

At Stony Brook Southampton, I'm focused on developing undergraduate programming and expanding our field-based summer course offerings. I believe in the power of hands-on experiences and immersive learning opportunities to deepen students' understanding of marine life and cultivate essential skills for their future careers.

I teach the following courses during the Summer Sessions:

  • MAR 110: Shark Biology and Conservation (July 22 – August 1)
  • MAR 106: Life in Our Ocean (August 4 – 15)
