Abstract
3 Tesla MR imaging in the abdomen, uses its improved signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) to increase image quality, to shorten acquisition time, to achieve higher spatial resolutions, or a combination of these. However, it should be noted that abdominal MR imaging at 3 T requires substantial modifications in pulse sequence and hardware components when compared with the ones designed for implementation at 1.5 T. The ability to obtain physiologic and functional information, e.g., spectroscopy, within reasonable acquisition times offers a bright future for 3-T MR abdominal imaging.
