Abstract

This paper discusses the application of diaLogic, a Human-in-the-loop system, to the development of algorithmic solutions, a popular problem solving activity. diaLogic performs a bottom-up process, which tracks the dialog (speech) between team members jointly devising an algorithm to compute metrics about the cognitive activities (CAs) performed during solving. The metrics are then used to identify the nature, parameters, and order of CAs. This insight is useful to improve problem solving in teams, as described by the examples in the paper.
