Abstract

Effective parenteral antibiotic regimens benefit patients with cutaneous, neurologic, cardiac, or joint features of Lyme disease. However, in patients whose only evidence for Lyme disease is a positive immunologic test result, the risks for empiric, intravenous antibiotic treatment outweigh the benefits.
