Abstract
We consider the possibility of using the forward-backward asymmetry AFB to distinguish between the production of fourth-generation (L) and exotic (E) leptons in hadronic collisions within the context of E6 theories. The existence of a new Z resonance expected in such models and its subsequent decay into lepton pairs provides increased statistics and therefore a means to overcome the W+W- background in searches for heavy leptons. We find that for some models of current interest, AFB allows the determination of the lepton-Z couplings at the Superconducting Super Collider, but not the Fermilab Tevatron, clearly separating these two possibilities when the lepton masses are relatively light (<200 250 GeV).
