Abstract

In this chapter, peridynamic formulations for Timoshenko beams and Mindlin plates are presented. Governing equations are obtained by using Euler-Lagrange equations. The capability of the presented formulations is demonstrated by considering two benchmark problems. In the first problem, a simply supported beam subjected to transverse loading is considered. In the second case, a simply supported Mindlin plate subjected to transverse loading is analyzed. Peridynamic results are compared against finite element solutions and a very good agreement is obtained between the two solutions.
