Abstract

In this paper, a bit allocation algorithm is considered for multi-rate OFDM system depending on transmit power and the amplitude response of time-varying frequency selective channel. The purpose of the presented multi-rate OFDM system using adaptive bit allocation is to maximize total capacity and to adapt proper service for each user according to channel conditions and the transmit power while maintaining transmission's quality of service (QoS) at the receiver. Computer simulation results show that the capacity of the adaptive multi-rate OFDM system can be adaptively changed for various services. Also performance analysis of the system in time-varying multipath fading channel is also presented using a channel estimator.
