Abstract

Carotid artery stenting is an appropriate procedure for revascularization in selected patients. As with all invasive procedures, carotid artery stenting carries risk of complication. Some of the potential complications are unique to carotid artery stenting. Physicians performing these procedures must be capable of rapidly diagnosing and triaging these complications. In many cases the experienced interventionalist may treat the complication endovascularly. This chapter describes these complications and the treatment of those same complications.
