Abstract

A fundamental nonlinearity is studied, arising from the free-carrier absorption of the coherent radiation in the laser cavity. This nonlinearity occurs when one takes into account the carrier heating by the coherent radiation and the input current. Thus, an analytical model describing nonlinear dynamics in multichannel single-mode lasers was developed and simple expressions for the CSO dependence on the dc bias level, channel frequency, member of channels and parameters of the laser in an arbitrary AM-FDM-SCM system were obtained.
