Abstract
A 54-year-old man with end stage renal disease and secondary hyperparathyroidism fell out of bed and had left hip pain and decreased range of motion. Radionuclide bone imaging was performed 36 hours later and demonstrated a linear photopenic area (cold fracture) in the left intertrochanteric region, seen best with pin-hole images. Fracture was confirmed by radiographic tomograms and at surgery.
