Collinear-infrared factorization and asymptotic evolution

Abstract

We study collinear and infrared divergences in relation to asymptotic dynamics. After discussing collinear singularities in φ(6)3, we break down the asymptotic hamiltonians of gauge theories into collinear and infrared parts, and show that the commutator of these parts is suppressed. This enables us to give an operator formulation of the factorization of the infrared from collinear divergences as a property of the asymptotic evolution operator.
