Abstract

The time dependence of nonlinear conduction is reported for the charge-density-wave compound K0.3MoO3 at T=4.2 K. Below the threshold voltage for nonlinear conduction, current spikes were observed; above the threshold, the current fluctuates in a quasiperiodic manner. The period of the current oscillations is proportional to the current. We interpret the results in the framework of a simple relaxation oscillator model and we investigate the effect of the long-range Coulomb interactions.
