Abstract
Discusses factors to be considered in the design and planning of capping operations for contaminated sediment in spoil disposal sites. Considers capping sediment type selection such as permeability and surface roughness. Required cap thickness may be estimated in various ways (e.g. changes in suspended sediment concentrations). Depth of burrowing by fauna at the site must also be considered. (C.J.U.)
