Abstract
The article discusses the role of political expediency in the closure of a neutron-scattering source. After the tritium leak was discovered, the restart of the High Flux Beam Reactor (HFBR) was blocked. It is reported that the environment and public health and safety would be protected in the event of the reactor starting up again.
