Abstract

To investigate the relationship between childhood neighborhood environment and risk-taking propensity in adolescence by using an objective environmental measure and a laboratory-based risk-taking propensity measure. Childhood neighborhood disorder predicted risk-taking propensity on a behavioral measure during early adolescence (β = 1.8, p <.01). Early toxic environments affect laboratory-based behavioral manifestations of risk.
