Abstract

Recurrence of varicose veins following surgical intervention is unfortunately a common and challenging problem. The prevalence of recurrent varicose veins has been reported to be between 20% and 65% after 2–11 years of follow-up. The rate of recurrence increases with time and accounts for >20% of patients requiring venous surgery.
