Abstract

A laser synchrotron source (LSS) based on Compton backscattering of electron and laser beams in an extended plasma channel is presented. This approach opens new prospects towards high-power monochromatic X-ray and γ sources. This method uses high-power high-repetition rate gas lasers to achieve these prospects.
