Abstract

This paper presents linearity specifications of CATV lasers where composite second-order (CSO) distortions for 80 channels must not exceed -60 dBc. The laser is described by the standard rate equations for carrier (n) and photon (S) densities in the active layer combined with an energy balance equation for carriers. This procedure simulates the common intermodulation distortion (IMD) testing setup for CATV systems.
