Abstract

In this study the Ames Test is used in direct gas phase exposures of the products of the irradiate propene/NO//x mixtures, a relatively well studied system. In these experiments the photooxidations are conducted in a 22. 7-m**3 Teflon reaction chamber. The results show a substantially higher mutagenic activity for the product stream as compared to the reactant stream. In addition the mutagenic activity for the products produced at the longer extent of reaction is substantially higher than those for the short extent of reaction.
