Abstract
Using a random-matrix model for the compound-nucleus resonances, and employing the method of functional integration involving both commuting and anticommuting variables, we derive a closed-form expression for the ensemble average of the product of two nuclear S-matrix elements. The derivation holds for any number of channels, and for all values of the transmission coefficients.
