Abstract
This article summarizes the recent advances in ultrasound, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and radionuclide imaging, which are described in more detail elsewhere in this issue. The flaws and opportunities of each individual imaging modality in the detection and characterization of liver disease are specifically highlighted. In addition, we emphasize the impact of clinical information in the interpretation of hepatic imaging studies and focus current concepts of radiology utilization management for the gamut of imaging modalities currently available for imaging the liver.
