Abstract
Three patients with chronic polyneuropathy of unknown origin were found to have abnormalities in humoral immunity characterized by anti-nerve antibodies, cold-reactive anti-lymphocyte antibodies, and circulating immune complexes. In two patients, clinical improvement coincided with plasmapheresis and removal of the anti-nerve antibodies. Certain patients with idiopathic peripheral neuropathy may benefit from therapy directed at correcting immunologic abnormalities.
