Abstract
The clinical definition of Lyme disease depends on the epidemiologic association of signs and symptoms with measureable immune response to B. burgdorferi. The dependence on the demonstration of an immune response to B. burgdorferi has made the understanding of this systemic spirochetosis critical for the physician when making a diagnosis.
