Abstract

This manuscript concerns the development and application of delay-lines for droplet- based microfluidics, which are necessary to build more complex and automated devices. As first examples on-chip enzymatic kinetic measurements have been performed which are extremely useful for the transfer and characterization of biological assays into micro-droplets. Furthermore it was possible to integrate seven distinct droplet manipulation modules allowing to screen enzymatic libraries and perform directed evolution in droplet-based microfluidics.
