Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of Microgrids: Theory and Practice. It summarizes the industry and community’s need of understanding the state of the art of microgrid research and development and points out the challenges in designing, operating, and maintaining microgrids. It provides a reader’s manual which will help readers understand the main contributions in each of the 42 chapters.
