Abstract

A general methodology sponsored by NRC was previously developed to quantify the risk contributions from aging components at nuclear plants. In the present study, this methodology is extended to passive components (e.g. pipes, heat exchangers, and the vessel). The focus here is on the three aspects that need to be addressed in risk-based aging prioritization of passive components. Presented is a method and approach for prioritizing the risk effects of aging of passive components.
