Abstract

Kannada (formerly referred to sometimes as 'Kanarese' or 'Canarese') is a South Dravidian language spoken by about 28 million people primarily in the state of Karnataka, South India, where it is the official language. It is also spoken in the neighboring states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Maharashtra.
