Abstract

We outline the microscopic derivation of the subset of Leutwyler-Smilga spectral sum rules in the 2-dimensional Schwinger model. As a side result, we obtain an expression for the sum rule in any external gauge field, for an arbitrary topological sector. This result generalizes the one due to Smilga, and may in principle be checked in lattice simulations of the model.
