Abstract
Nathan Mantel (1919–2002) was most noted for his contribution to the Mantel–Haenszel procedure and its extensions, which allows for combining data from different sources, and so can be used in a variety of contexts: retrospective studies, prospective studies, and laboratory experiments, including those with litter-matched samples. The technique was also used to develop the logrank test.
