abstract = "This article serves as a response to Makis Solomos{\textquoteright} paper, {\textquotedblleft}Xenakis{\textquoteright}s Philosophy of Technology Through Some Interviews,{\textquotedblright} comparing two distinct approaches to technological innovation in music: that of Iannis Xenakis and that found within hip-hop culture. While Xenakis worked within academic institutions to develop new technological tools for composition, hip-hop practitioners transformed existing technologies into instruments for creative expression. This comparative analysis reveals how both traditions grappled with questions of human agency in technological environments, emphasized physical interaction with hardware, and sought to democratize musical creation. By examining these seemingly disparate approaches, we uncover valuable insights for contemporary music technology practice and education.",
