Abstract

This work is our first attempt to investigate the hypothesis of isomeric segregation due to crystallization in the title compound (PEKK) family. As the first step, we have chosen to study the all 1, 4-linked PEKK (T/I = 100/0) in which the terephthaloyl moieties have been selectively deuterated, i.e., dT. X-ray and neutron (powder) diffraction have been made on the selectively deuterated polymer, and a nondeuterated control, to investigate the disposition of dT units within crystalline structure of both polymorphs: form 1 (melt crystallized) and form 2 (as polymerized).
