Abstract

Scientific work at Swartkrans has been completed recently by C. K. Brain. The hominid fossils recovered by him include a number from the Member 1 "Hanging Remnant" breccia that remain undescribed. These specimens are described here. One is referred to early Homo ; the others are attributed to Paranthropus. Several of the latter possess morphological features not recorded hitherto for Paranthropus. It is now possible to describe the morphological and metrical ranges of variation exhibited by the entire Swartkrans Paranthropus and Homo samples.
