Abstract

The oxidation of NO to NO2 is an important reaction step for various steps in a diesel or lean burn gasoline engines after-treatment system. Additionally, NH3 oxidation is a useful reaction to understand the side reaction of the selective catalyst reduction (SCR) as well as to remove of excess NH3 after SCR activity. Here, we investigated three different types of acid form zeolites Chabazite (H-CHA), Beta (H-BEA), and Mordenite (H-MOR) catalysts' activities for NO oxidation and NH3 oxidation. Reaction temperature effects on the catalytic performance were observed by increasing the reaction temperature from 100oC to 450oC in intervals of 50oC. Out of these three zeolites the acid form CHA showed highest activity due to the small pore cavity, which enhances the stability for transition complex.
