Abstract

Fluorescence intermittency was investigated using single molecule confocal microscopy in colloidal semiconductor quantum dots. Sustained episodes of fluorescent cycling or rapid laser absorption and episodes without any light emission were analyzed. An inverse square law was followed by off-time and on-time probability densities. The collected data was used to evaluate kinetic models of fluorescence intermittency at the single molecule level.
