Abstract

We report on the implementation and experimental validation of a novel iterative image reconstruction scheme that is based on the equation of radiative transfer. Unlike schemes that are based on the diffusion equation, our scheme does not require that the transport scattering coefficient, μs' is much larger than the diffusion coefficient. Furthermore, this code allows successful reconstruction of media that contain void-like regions, in which scattering and absorption coefficients are very small.
