Abstract
A canonical quantization of solitons using the subsidiary condition theorem is presented. The primary constraint is used in the weak sense on the state vectors. In this approach, the recoiling solitons are a coherent superposition of translational zero mode states. Conventional Rayleigh-Schrödinger perturbation theory yields the expected relativistic energies.
