Abstract
This chapter looks back to The Original Series and the sequels and prequels that followed it in the waning days of broadcast television, investigating the way those series dealt with the issue of race as well as how Discovery deals with that same issue. It concludes that over the decades, when it comes to racial or species differences, the Star Trek franchise has adopted a variety of different approaches, all of which have left different things to be desired.
