Abstract
The theory is developed which describes the Cooper pair tunneling in a system of two small-area Josephson tunnel junctions connected in series. In particular, existing theory of the Josephson tunneling in small tunnel junctions is extended to the case of arbitrary EC/Δj ratio, where EC is the characteristic charging energy of the system, Δj are the energy gaps of superconductors forming the junctions.
