Retraction Note: Influence of surface treatment on osseointegration of dental implants: histological, histomorphometric and radiological analysis in vivo (Clinical Oral Investigations, (2015), 19, 2, (509-517), 10.1007/s00784-014-1241-2)

The Editors-in-Chief have retracted this article. After publication, concerns were raised regarding the images presented in the figures. Specifically: Fig. 3 (surface C, 28 days) appears highly similar to Fig. 4 (surface A, 28 days, 20 × neck), but rotated, as well as Fig. 6 (surface C, 28 days, 20 × neck) Fig. 4 (surface A, 14 days, 20 × neck) appears highly similar to Fig. 6 (surface C, 14 days, 20 × neck) Fig. 4 appears highly similar to Fig. 9 of [1], with different magnification. Fig. 5 appears highly similar to Fig. 7 of [1], but they have different descriptions with respect to the surface conditions, time and magnification. The authors have addressed the similarities with [1] by a Correction [2]. However, the authors have not been able to sufficiently resolve the other concerns. The Editors-in-Chief therefore no longer have confidence in the presented data. Marta Satorres-Nieto and Jordi Gargallo-Albiol do not agree to this retraction. Georgios E. Romanos has not explicitly stated whether he agrees to this retraction. Antonio Aguilar-Salvatierra, Rafael Arcesio Delgado-Ruiz and José Eduardo Maté-Sánchez de Val have not responded to any correspondence from the editor or publisher about this retraction. The publisher has not been able to obtain current email addresses for José Luis Calvo-Guirado and Gerardo Gómez-Moreno.
