Abstract
The Editor-in-Chief has retracted this article. After publication, concerns were raised regarding Figs. 7 and 9. Specifically, these images appear highly similar to Fig. 5 and 4, respectively, in [1, now retracted], which was submitted and published within a similar time frame. The authors issued a correction [2] to the other article [1], where they stated that the same group of animals was used in both studies. However, a report provided by the Animal Facility of University of Murcia indicated that separate groups of animals were used in the two articles. Additional concerns have been raised regarding different statements in the Materials and methods on whether one or two samples were kept for the histology experiments, and how the mean BIC values were obtained from one sample per group. The Editor-in-Chief therefore no longer has confidence in the presented data. The publisher has not been able to obtain current email addresses for José Luis Calvo-Guirado, Gerardo Gómez-Moreno and Marcus Abboud. None of the other authors have responded to any correspondence from the publisher about this retraction.
