Abstract

Diaphragmatic plication restores thoracic domain and allows for more effective mechanical expansion of the lungs in patients with symptomatic diaphragmatic dysfunction. The focus of this chapter is to explain to our readers our robotic approach to this particular problem. In addition to the focus, we also describe how we diagnose diaphragmatic paralysis, what factors we use to decide when to operate on these patients, and a description of different treatment modalities to choose from.
