Abstract
We have sonographically examined two children with subsequently surgically confirmed infected urachal cysts. In both cases, the sonographic appearance was that of a cystic, elongated mass with scattered low-level internal echoes and a projection inferiorly towards the bladder. We feel that ultrasound should be the initial radiographic modality in the evaluation of pediatric umbilical infections where an underlying urachal cyst is a diagnostic consideration.
