abstract = "The fast development of wind power technology makes the application of DC transmission network increasingly wide and salient. Accordingly, the fault analysis and fault protection strategy for DC system become very significant. This paper introduces a simple DC system topology structure which is suitable for the power transmission of wind farms, and the fault characteristics of the DC system against an open-circuit fault are analyzed elaborately. Furthermore, total three fault protection strategies for the DC system are proposed and simulated. Finally, the simulation results are carried out under the PSCAD/EMTDC{\texttrademark} environment to demonstrate the feasibility and validity of the proposed strategies.",
