Abstract

We present a study of the dipolar flow associated with initial density fluctuations in a two particle correlation technique in the context of a multiphase transport model(AMPT). We use a simultaneous fit invlving a flow component and a global momentum conservation component to extract dipolar flow. The dipolar flow is extracted as a function of transverse momentum, centrality, collision energy and parton scattering cross section and compared with experimental data. We extend the fitting procedure to study rapidity dependence. We compare our results with those obtained from an event plane method proposed by Luzum et al [1]. The differences between the two methods are discussed.
