Abstract

A microporous aluminogermanate possessing zeolite rho framework topology has been synthesized from sodium and cesium containing gel mixtures. The dehydrated material of composition Na16Cs8Al24Ge24O96 has been structurally characterized via combined Rietveld analysis of synchrotron X-ray and neutron diffraction data collected on a powdered sample. It has a cubic unit cell with a0=14.6738(2) Å and adopts space group I23, showing strict alternation of aluminum and germanium in the framework. The structural parameters are compared with those derived for other materials possessing rho topology.
