Abstract

Rhodium-catalyzed silylformylation and amidocarbonylation are applied to the syntheses of pyrrolizidine alkaloids, (±)-isoretronecanol and (±)-trachelanthamidine, from 5-ethynyl-2-pyrrolidinone.
