Abstract

Lacking ongoing genomic DNA transcription, platelets represent a unique model system for studying interactions between transcriptome and proteome. This chapter focuses on application of comparative transcriptomic studies for predicting novel proteins and pathways in platelets and for identification of molecular signatures of platelet-related disorders. In the future, integration of transcript and protein profiling approaches will permit the identification of molecular mechanisms of platelet function at a new level.
