Abstract
A report is presented on laws exercised by the US commercial fishing industry. The Sustainable Fisheries Act 1996, which overhauled federal legislation guiding fisheries management is discussed. According to the Sustainable Fisheries Act, fisheries managers are not allowed to catch exceeding sustainable yields.
