Abstract

We show that supersymmetric nonlinear σ-model dynamics can be described by off-shell linear multiplets only on manifolds with isometries and identify the linear multiplets as Killing potentials for these symmetries. Possible obstructions to the construction of covariant Killing potentials may imply a clash between supersymmetry and the isometries of the manifold. When the linear multiplets are on-shell, we find that the isometries commute and that the duality is via the usual Legendre transform construction.
